MY FIRST INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE August 2, 2007

My first international business experience was in Sri Lanka for an exhibition. My work was to find out a Distributor who can sell my products in that market (not from OnlySuccess). I was on the stall with my boss. On the last day my boss left to Taiwan and I was alone. During fag end of the day in lot of crowds, one guy flicked my Bag with lots of Money and Passport. I was not worried about the money but was worried about the passport. If I don’t have the passport in Srilanka, I can’t even go to an office bcos security will ask the passport or your local Id no. I said to myself, this guy must be in exhibition, bcos I saw the bag just 5 minutes back, where I kept in the chair , he used, The opportunity of the crowd situation and flicked the bag. Then I immediately said to myself that I can trace this guy . Is it useful Belief that time rather than panic? It is absolute ex of E + R equal to O (Means Event + Response is equal to Outcome), normally in this situation people behave as E equal to O. So I took some massive action , I called the organizer immediately , asked to put a guy in my stall ,Informed the security to close the door not to allow anyone outside for next 15 mins. And announced the PA system saying some one taken out bag from one of the stall, If you find people around are behaving different please inform the organizer. Bcos the exhibition is about close to 100 people from India went and put the exhibition at srilanka. So they know the seriousness of the passport so all the stall owners are on a lot. In few mins I got the bag with all my things in tact. The guy who taken the bag left in some corner, So The take away is , events are bound to happen , It is in our hand what is response you take , The outcome depends on that . So take a paper write Events + Response equal to Outcome. Highlight Response.

HOW TO GET UPGRADE IN INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT July 30, 2007

Is It Easy to get upgrade in flight?? The answer is Yes and No.

Bcos When I started to fly, during the initial days I thought it Is a big thing to get. It is true for Those days , Getting upgrade , Flying on Business class is like oh , that is amazing. The kind of service what you are offered is different compared to Economy class. You will feel like you are as a King’s guest. They serve you like that. You will have lot of choices to choose from the soft drinks to Alcoholic , veg to non veg , Dessert. Inside they serve you in the plate like the way you are served at home . When you want to sleep, Example if you forget to switch off your reading light they do it for you without disturb your sleep. If it is a day time they will close the window and will allow you to sleep well. So obviously I want to get upgrade and enjoy all this things.

I understand from your question that ??? Is it possible , You mean without paying the business class you can get a upgrade? Bcos it is not applicable for train. In flight it is very common. I will tell you one more secret here, Even flight operators also wants to upgrade people sometime rather many times if the flight is going full. So where is the bridge? We want the upgrade and they are also ready to give. You need to find bridge. So I started finding out reason why they want to give upgrade for whom?? . It is very interesting and I love to do this kind of stuff, for example interacting with people whom I don’t know much but get the right answer. Since they don’t know you well they will be a bit reluctant to share things. So it is your responsibility to create that comfort for them to share. I started doing that , with in few trips I broke that belief that getting upgrade is tough. Today in any airlines( Jet airways , Emirates , Malaysian Airlines , Indian Airlines etc) I get more than 50% of the time upgrade. Only once I travelled to Dubai by Indian Airlines (Me and my colleague Nirmala ). In my office people were telling , You cannot even imagine of getting upgrade in Indian Airlines . I asked why? , they said if you have recommendation from some minister only it is possible. I said let me use my persuasion . I wanted to the check in counter , there was a guy , about 45 to 50.We were flying to DUBAI.I asked,How is the flight,He replied it is full? Then I said give me a upgrade.He saw me as a stranger and asked for what? I said anyhow flight is full,I am a frequent flyer of many airlines better you give me a upgrade instead of giving to some one. He immediately gave us the upgrade.You need to see the moment how my colleague was happy,Getting upgrade Indian airlines is one of the challenging tasks.Now a days my colleague started following me,I too introduced people whom I know the people in the industry . You want to know the results. She is also like me now. More than 50% time she is getting upgrade. So what for you are waiting for?

Many people will have a question now? Don’t tell me getting a upgrade is that easy. Answer is, It is that easy. They are ready to give the upgrade are you ready to take it. The first step is , go and ask the check in counter PUSH ME UP, never think they are doing a favour to you by upgrading , they want to push few people so that they can take few more people in Economy. So where is bridge? I am sure who ever is reading this blog, Know they can fly in business class with economy ticket. So pay me the difference amount later, Honestly okie… Just kidding , Have a wonderful business class travel . One more important fact is you create instant rapport with people in the check in counter. ( How do that , You can learn the same in Influence and Mastery ), So that your job is easier next time. She should be able to push you up next time before you ask her.

Today you know one thing, I never go and stand on Economy class check in , I always go to business class check in , Most of the staff they know me. I don’t have to ask them upgrade they will do their best to get a upgrade . It is bcos of the Rapport what I created with them. It is same inside the flight also. Probably I will share it the near future.
